Review @LeislLeighton - Pack Bound by Leisl Leighton (Pack Bound #1)

Pack Bound
Pack Bound #1
by Leisl Leighton

Goodreads blurb:  One pack, one coven, a destiny intertwined...

Five hundred years ago, facing extinction, a group of powerful witches united to create a pact with the Were to save witch–kind. The pact expelled an ancient evil, known only as the Darkness, that was blocking the Were from their wolves. With the Darkness destroyed, the Packs and their Covens grew strong as they thrived beside each other in their brand–new world.

But the Darkness was not destroyed.

Skye Collins has been brought up to fear her magic and shy away from witch and Were alike. But when Jason McVale, the Alpha of Pack McVale, comes in search of her, she is intrigued and tempted. Her mistrust of magic and wariness of the intensity of passion she shares with Jason threatens her control–and if she loses control, she just might turn into the weapon the Darkness intended her to become all along.

About the Author:  I am a tall red head with an overly large imagination who can talk the hind leg off a donkey, so it came as no surprise to my family that I completely fell in love with Anne of Green Gables when my Nanna gave it to me for my tenth birthday. I too was a dreamer, who at times was overly dramatic and lived my life vicariously through the worlds written by others and in my own dreams.

I read voraciously as a child and still do, everything from fantasy (Raymond E. Feist, Katherine Kerr, Jani Wurts), paranormal (Nalini Singh and Sherrilyn Kenyon), sci-fi (Anne McAffrey, Douglas Adams), YA (Hunger Games, Vampire Academy, Fallen, Twilight, Harry Potter), romantic historical (Anne Gracie, Courtney Milan, Mary Balogh, Julia Quinn, MM Kaye, Johanna Lindsey and LaVyrle Spencer) and romantic suspense (you can’t go past Nora Roberts), not to mention the classics (Austen, Bronte, Louisa May Alcott, LM Montgomery and of course, Shakespeare) as well as many others – the list could go on (I did say voracious!) As if this wasn’t enough, I did a double major in English Literature and Drama/Theatre Studies – two majors with more reading than pretty much any other. My friends thought I was nuts. I just thought it was normal.

My imagination and overly dramatic side led me toward drama and music. I come from a family of singers and musicians, and I got this gene in spades. If I’m not talking, I’m singing. I turned to the stage for a while, acting, singing and dancing (the latter not so well) as well as script writing, stage managing and musical directing. I loved every minute of it. But being a stolid Capricorn at heart, and liking to be in charge, I started up my own Theatre Restaurant with a couple of partners where I could indulge my creative side and maintain some certainty. After closing down the theatre restaurant for personal reasons (having run it successfully for six years) and starting a family, I internalised my creativity and started writing the stories I’d always dreamed.

Now I get to live a part of every day in the fantasy worlds my brain creates at night when I’m asleep, which is a joy I love sharing with others. I love it when my characters (vampires, werewolves, shifters, witches, warlocks, angels, fairies, elves, timetravellers, gods and goddesses, inter-dimensional beings and hunters, rock stars, music producers, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers and friends) take me on a journey with them and allow me into their passions, desires, their hopes and dreams, not to mention their hot and sizzling romances. I love a happy ever after.

In my normal life, I raise my kids with my lovely hubby, have two dogs, Buffy and Skye, and spend time with my loving and supportive family and all my understanding friends – who still think I’m a little nuts. I sometimes sing in a choir or do the occasional gig, tinkle on the piano once in a blue moon and work at a YMCA in customer service and admin as well as swim teaching. I love Sci-Fi chanel, Dr Who, Grimm, Vampire Diaries, Teen Wolf, Orphan Black, am a huge Buffy and Angel fan, and watch Bones and all the Marvel Movies with my sons. People often ask me when I get the time to write and I say to them, if you love something, you find a way to do it. I love writing… enough said!

Most of all, I hope that readers enjoy my novels as much as I enjoyed writing them.

My Pack Bound Series is out now.

Dangerous Echoes – book 1 of the Echo Springs Series – is out later this year (more to come soon on this!)

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!!

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!  I did buy this book, and I hope to buy the rest of the series too when I can.

This is my first time reading this author’s work, and it is also the first book in the series.  This is definitely an adult book with violence and steamy content.  A thing of note that you may want to know, I did have to look up some words because this author is from Australia, so at least for me, I didn’t know some of the words until I looked them up.  I don’t have a problem with this because learning is lifelong, and I love it.

This world is exciting for me because it is set in Australia, and it is interesting that Witches and Weres are bound together to survive.  I found the premise very cool.  This book has a lot of mystery and intrigue, and things I just didn’t see coming with all the twists and turns.  I love when I can’t predict what is happening.  I really like Skye because she goes through a lot, and she could quit or give up, but she doesn’t.  Jason, Adam, and Tom are awesome, and I loved their characters.  I’m hoping to see more of them all in the next book.  Of course, there are evil bad guys, but can you figure out who they are.

I recommend to all shifter and witch fans because this is an intriguing story with tons going on and a new spin that you will love!  I can’t wait for the next book!  I think the series will get better and better!
