Review - Her Broken Bear by Summer Donnelly (Shifter Special Forces #2)

Her Broken Bear
Shifter Special Forces #2
by Summer Donnelly

Goodreads blurb:  Answering an emergency call from her best friend, twenty-eight-year-old Hadley Mills runs to Maxwell Mountains, North Carolina. There she meets Hunter, explosives expert and bear shifter. Hadley is able to heal Hunter's body, but his heart and mind are beyond her control.

Thirty-year-old Hunter Bromstad has a broken bear. Sent back from a battle with more internal scars than a man should carry, Hunter can't control his bear. But when he falls in love with a nurse practitioner, his life is turned upside down. Can he learn to control his bear? What about the years of service he still owes the government?

And when a fire breaks out on Maxwell Mountain, will he and Hadley be able to survive the fallout?

About the Author:  Reader Beware! Author believes in love at first sight, fairy tales, happily ever afters, insta-love, and happy endings.

Sweet, frothy romance between strong women finding their way in life and love and the men who capture their hearts.

Lots of emphasis on strong female friendships.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  I bought this book because it intrigued me, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

The cover is awesome!

This is the 2nd book in this series, and it is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content.  I highly recommend reading this series in order because the world and characters are so much more when you have all of the perspective.  This is also a novella about 80 pages long.

Hadley is in called in for an emergency by Lacey.  She learns some new things, but she also has a way with Hunter where she is able to calm him.  There is plenty of action and bravery in this book too which is more to my style!  There is also some internal battles going on with both Hunter and Hadley that they have to work through.  I loved this story, and I admire Cree for everything he has done for both Quinn and Hunter…not the fighting!

I highly recommend to any shifter fans who love veterans!  I really love this world and can’t wait for more!

Review - Her Lonely Mastiff by Summer Donnelly (Shifter Special Forces #1)

Her Lonely Mastiff
Shifter Special Forces #1
by Summer Donnelly

Goodreads blurb:  After retiring from the Shifter Special Forces, Quinn Maxwell returns to his home in the mountains of North Carolina. There, amidst the mountain terrain, he and his Mastiff find peace at last.
After a bad year at work, Lacey St. Claire takes her first vacation in years. Now, if her GPS would stop going crazy, she can just find Maxwell Mountain and settle in.
Quinn wasn't planning on renting out his cottage and definitely not to a human female. His intent is to get her off his mountain as quickly as possible. But when Lacey refuses to go, sparks begin to fly.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  I bought this book because it intrigued me, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!

The cover is what attracted me because I love shifter books especially when they are the heroes!

This is the first book in this series, and it is also my first time reading anything by Summer.  It is only about 80 pages long, and it is for adults only due to the steamy content.

This was a quick read, but I really like Summer’s style and writing women who are strong and love that is fairy tale like.  Lacey is a strong woman who doesn’t let anyone push her around, and her cat is awesome especially when Zoe wants her to get up.  I don’t want to give anything away, but Lacey and Quinn are meant for each other.  Quinn is a protector for sure, and he takes care of them all but takes nothing for himself.  I’m actual surprised how much I loved this story because I usually want more action and adventure in my books though I do secretly hope Lacey is able to change things in this world for the shifters.

I highly recommend to any shifter fans who love mates and how that love works!  I can’t wait to read more in this series!!  I already bought book 2!

Review #ShellyLaurenston - Hot and Badgered by Shelly Laurenston (The Honey Badgers #1)

Hot and Badgered
The Honey Badgers #1
by Shelly Laurenston

Goodreads blurb:  It’s not every day that a beautiful naked woman falls out of the sky and lands face-first on grizzly shifter Berg Dunn’s hotel balcony. Definitely they don’t usually hop up and demand his best gun. Berg gives the lady a grizzly-sized t-shirt and his cell phone, too, just on style points. And then she’s gone, taking his XXXL heart with her. By the time he figures out she’s a honey badger shifter, it’s too late.

Honey badgers are survivors. Brutal, vicious, ill-tempered survivors. Or maybe Charlie Taylor-MacKilligan is just pissed that her useless father is trying to get them all killed again, and won’t even tell her how. Protecting her little sisters has always been her job, and she’s not about to let some pesky giant grizzly protection specialist with a network of every shifter in Manhattan get in her way. Wait. He’s trying to help? Why would he want to do that? He’s cute enough that she just might let him tag along—that is, if he can keep up . . .

About the Author Shelly:  Originally from Long Island, New York, Shelly Laurenston has resigned herself to West Coast living which involves healthy food, mostly sunny days, and lots of guys not wearing shirts when they really should be. Shelly Laurenston is also The New York Times Bestselling author G.A. Aiken, creator of the Dragon Kin series. ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!  I will own this in paperback too!

This book is the first in a new series, and it is definitely for adults only due to the violence and adult content.  I should to any who do not like swearing that there is lots of it in this book, but I love how she does it with quirky humor-galore!  I need to go back and re-read all her books that I read before I started reviewing because Shelly’s books have an awesome humor paired with the chaos that is just hysterical!  I own most of her books in paperback.

Honey badgers and hybrids and all the chaotic uniqueness that goes with them makes this an awesome story that had me laughing throughout.  The sisters (Charlie, Max, and Stevie) are so much deadly fun that you can’t help but love them.  The triplets (Berg, Dag, and Britta) are pretty awesome too with how they handle everything.  Berg and Charlie fit, and I loved this adventure into their story.  I definitely hope to see more of this family because they rocked with their dysfunction.

I highly recommend to any shifter fan who likes the violent and unpredictable behavior of all of Shelly’s shifters mixed with her snarky and awesome humor!  I can’t wait for more!

Review @donna_grant - Heat by Donna Grant (Dark Kings #12)

Heat
Dark Kings #12
by Donna Grant

Goodreads blurb:  Nikolai is a dragon shapeshifter who knows well the meaning of loss. Orphaned and raised to be a Dragon King, he never accepts defeat. Now, Nikolai prefers his solitude . . .until a beautiful, irresistible woman calls upon him for help—and Nikola’s whole word goes up in flames.

Ever since MI5 agent Esther woke to discover her mind taken over with magic, she feels like stranger to herself. She looks to a notorious dragon, one who has the power to help her find her memory. But as she and Nikolai come closer to discovering what really happened to her, a dangerous passion ignites between them. Can this lone Dragon King help the woman he’s grown to love to uncover the truth about her past—or will a deep and fiery danger tear them both apart?

About the Author:  Donna Grant is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the sizzling Dark King series featuring dragons, immortal Highlanders, and the Fae.

She was born and raised in Texas but loves to travel. Her adventures have taken her throughout the United States as well as to Jamaica, Mexico, and Scotland. Growing up on the Texas/Louisiana border, Donna’s Cajun side of the family taught her the “spicy” side of life while her Texas roots gave her two-steppin’ and bareback riding.

Despite deadlines and voracious reading, Donna still manages to keep up with her two children, three cats, and a dog.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!  I think I want to collect this series in paperback!!

The cover is WOW!  Love it, and you know why!

This is the 12th book in the series, and it is for adults only due to steamy content and violence.  You can definitely read this book on its own, but I highly suspect that it would be so much better if each book was read in order.  I want to collect them all in paperback when I can.  This is only the 2nd book I’ve read in this series.

This is an awesome world full of Dragon Kings, Dark Fae, Light Fae, Reapers, Druids (both mies and droughs), magic, mates, and more!  I love complex worlds where you don’t see how everything is going to work out.  Surprises around corners and action galore made it impossible to put this book down.  I love how well Nikolai and Ester work together and come together.  They are a great pair!  Still wondering what will happen with Rhi especially with what happens in this book.  All sorts of drama, treachery, and more to leaving me wondering how things will go next.  I really want Ulrik to come around, but who knows!

I highly recommend to any paranormal fans who loves adventure, action, and romance!  I love this series, and I want more!!

Review @KerrelynSparks - Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon by Kerrelyn Sparks (The Embraced #3)

Eight Simple Rules for Dating a Dragon
The Embraced #3
by Kerrelyn Sparks

Goodreads blurb:  From the brilliant imagination of Kerrelyn Sparks comes a bold new fantasy romance series in which passion and magic collide. Behold the Embraced…

Gwennore has a talent. An Elf able to track down the cause of an illness and heal it, she’s a valuable asset to her people. But when the kidnapping of a young girl thrusts Gwennore into the very heart of the realm of the dragons, she discovers not only a place of power and magic, but also a haunted land, plagued by an ancient curse that all but ensures extinction to the royal family. But when she meets the smoldering General Silas Dravenko, they strike a bargain—save the country from its cursed illness, and he will return the kidnapped girl. She’s been raised never to trust a dragon, but never did making a deal with the devil feel so good…

Silas has no way of curing the family he’s loyally served for years. But when a beautiful elf, long considered the enemy of the dragons, comes bursting into his world, Silas is awakened to passion and desire in a way he’s never felt before. But can he trust a sworn enemy to save the very existence he holds dear? And can their love survive those that threaten to tear them apart?

About the Author:  Kerrelyn Sparks apparently has issues with reality. After writing more than a dozen books about vampires, she has now completely gone off the deep end and wound up on another planet. But how thrilling that she can share this magical new world with her readers! Although she is best known (so far) for the Love at Stake series, which has hit as high as number 5 on the New York Times list and 22 on the USA Today list, she hopes her readers will love The Embraced as much as they did her merry band of vamps and shifters. To learn more about her paranormal, historical, and upcoming out-of-this-world fantasy romances, please visit Kerrelyn on Facebook, Twitter, or her website.

Kerrelyn loves hearing from readers, even those who howl at the moon. Letters may be sent to P.O. Box 5512, Katy, TX 77491-5512. If you would like bookmarks and signed bookplates, please mail a Self-Addressed Stamped Envelope to her P.O. Box, and she will send those items to you.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I got a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!  I’m getting the paperback because sometimes it is more cost effective to get paperback!!!

The cover is steamy!  I love it!

This is the 3rd book in this series, and it is for adults only due to violence and steamy content.  I highly recommend reading each book in order because it is so much better when you know all the characters and how close they are.

I devoured this book, and I couldn’t put it down!  I really love this series!  It has it all magic, special powers, shifters, fae, twin moons, and so much more!  I love the sisters, and this is Gwennore’s story.  So much going on in this book and Gwennore and her gifts are out to help.  My heart goes out to Gwen and how cruel people can be based on her race.  All your favorite people are in the story especially Brody because he is always there when you need him.  Now I have a couple others to add Dmitri and Aleski because they rock too!  Silas though is the best because he is always there to rescue Gwen whether it is from attack or cruel words.  I loved this exciting read!  So much going on that you are pulled into the story, and I loved every second!  I haven’t read a book by Kerrelyn Sparks that I haven’t loved!  Her books are full of life, mystery, twists and turns, and most importantly love!  This world is amazing, and I can’t wait to be immersed in it again!

I highly recommend to any paranormal fans who love complex worlds filled with paranormal beings and magic!  I can’t wait to read more of this world!

Review @ZoeChantebooks - Tropical Dragon Diver by Zoe Chant (Shifting Sands Resort #5)

Tropical Dragon Diver
Shifting Sands Resort #5
by Zoe Chant

Goodreads blurb:  Outcasts from two different worlds...

Dragons are meant to be creatures of fire and fury, not salt water and mercy. But Bastian isn’t an ordinary dragon.

Shunned by his warrior family, he guards golden beaches instead of a golden hoard. But when he rescues a beautiful, mysterious woman from stormy waves, he finally finds something worth fighting for.

She’s the treasure he’s been longing for… so why does she insist that his feelings are false?

Saina only meant to use her siren song to enthrall the handsome, gentle lifeguard long enough to heal and escape. But now he wants to keep her forever. Even worse, she wants to stay…

Contains steamy scenes between a sultry Indian heroine and the gorgeous lifeguard who would do anything to help her. If you’re looking for an action-filled, paranormal, multicultural romance, pick up a copy of Tropical Dragon Diver today!

Each book in the Shifting Sands Resort series is a complete, standalone novel. The series can be read in any order.

***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!!  Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book!  I buy all of Zoe Chant’s books because I love her HEAs and her style of writing!  I do own this whole series!  See all my reviews below and I own them all :)

The cover is okay, but not my favorite.

This is the 5th book in the series, and it is for adults only due to the violence and steamy content.  While not mandatory, I highly recommend reading the whole series in order because the characters are so much better if you know everything!

This is Bastian’s story, and wow, you learn so much about him that you had no idea about!  I don’t want to ruin anything, but you have to read it to find out.  Saina doesn’t trust herself because of what she is.  I love how them loving each other makes them stronger, and they don’t see it happening.  Of course, there is a perfect mix of trouble and romance that seems to always come at Shifting Sands!  Who knew a dragon and a mermaid could be a perfect for each other pair!

I highly recommend to any shifter fan who loves mixed paranormal worlds especially if you love any of Zoe’s books!  I can’t wait to see what comes out next!
