Review @TheAubreyRose - The Scarred Prince by Aubrey Rose (The Wolf's Pet #1)

The Scarred Prince
The Wolf’s Pet #1
by Aubrey Rose

Goodreads blurb:  Every alpha has scars. That’s how they get to be the alpha.

The Scarred Prince is only a rumor. A whisper. A shadow. Nobody believes that he really exists, or that he does the things that they say he does: keeping females as slaves and mutilating members of his own pack. He’s just a a character in a story to frighten young cubs before bedtime.

Until now.

Kinaya has spent the last eighteen years living in her twin brother’s shadow. Blaise is always the favorite: stronger, faster, more handsome. The fighter. Everyone says he’ll make a good alpha once his father steps down.

But on the night of their birthday feast, a mysterious warrior arrives, a messenger from a rival pack. He’s stronger and bigger than any wolf Kinaya has ever seen. His message: Surrender, or war.

While her brother prepares for battle, Kinaya slips away to see the captive warrior. As she struggles with her strange attraction to him, she realizes that the only sure way to bring peace to the rival packs will come at a cost - and she is the one who will have to pay the price. But can she marry a brutal conqueror, even to save her pack?

About the Authors:  Aubrey Rose lives in sunny San Diego, where she likes to lay around in a hammock reading her favorite romances. When she’s not writing steamy stories, she can be found dancing naked in front of the mirror to Abba while her cat watches disdainfully.

***Received the ebook for an honest review, but I already grabbed my own copy :)

The cover is looks awesome and definitely makes me want to pick it up :)

This is a two part book and each part is novella length.  It is around 90ish pages.  And yes they are both published….so no waiting!!!  YAY!!!

I did not realize that this book is sort of an off-shoot series from The Blind Wolf series.  I own this series but haven’t had the chance to read it yet because sadly, I’m not a speed reader….I only wish it because there are so many awesome books I have yet to get to due to time constraints :)  Sorry off topic….anyways, I need to read that series soon now :)

I really like Kinaya and love how devoted she is to her pack and preservation of life by avoiding war.  She is strong, and I really like her personality.  Her brother on the other hand….I guess I’ll reserve judgment, but he needs to be slapped around.  I’m not sure what to think about Alekk at this time, but he should definitely be slapped around too!!  You will have to read to see if you agree or not because I will not give away the story and ruin your own adventure :)  I still have some questions on this world, but I think that is because I haven’t read The Blind Wolf series yet, but nothing too bad that I would say you have to read that series first :)

Where it stops sucks, but thankfully, I can jump straight into book 2 since they published at the same time.  Otherwise, I would have been screaming and grumbling, but I’m a happy girl :)

I recommend this book to werewolf shifter readers and especially if you already love Aubrey’s work since I think you will really enjoy this story too!!!

Review @Bethany17801501 - Sanctuary by Bethany Shaw (Hunted #1)

Sanctuary
Hunted #1
by Bethany Shaw

Goodreads blurb:  Tess Monroe is a werecat on the run. Pursued by Hunters, an elite group of humans tasked with extinguishing the entire shifter species, Tess stumbles upon a safe haven. Due to a long-standing feud, she receives an icy reception. Determined to reunite with her loved ones, she reluctantly accepts the help of, Nate, a werewolf. The attraction to Nate is instantaneous, and Tess finds herself trusting him despite his packs archaic beliefs and traditions.

Werecats can’t be trusted. They are the enemy. That’s the motto Nate Tucker grew up with, but when he meets Tess, he can’t help but feel protective of the beautiful feline. He knows that he shouldn’t care about her, and he definitely shouldn’t be attracted to her, let alone desire her, but the feelings are undeniable. Tasked with escorting her to a nearby pride, Nate must fight his passion for Tess. An interspecies romance is strictly forbidden. But as they unravel secrets from the past and discover new threats, a taboo romance is the least of their concerns.

About the Author:  I am happily married to my husband of almost nine years and have two wonderful children.

I have always loved reading and writing and am thrilled to have published my first novel.

Paranormal romance is my go to genre and the genre I prefer to write in. I love the unique feel of creating an entirely different world and implementing it into the human verse.

***Received a copy of the ebook for an honest review, but I want to add this to my own library very soon :)

The cover definitely doesn’t scream shifter to me.  I would have loved to see their animal halves on the cover too :)

This book is around 200 pages of awesomeness, and this is the first book I’ve read by Bethany.  But I’m at a loss as to why because I think I own all the Werewolf Wars books already, so I’m definitely going to make sure and read those soon too!!  I loved this book from the chapter 1.  It has so much action throughout the entire thing which everyone knows is my favorite kind of shifter book :) There are all sorts of hunters, shifters, fights, family drama, and so much more mixed in to keep you gripped in the story.  It was a battle to put my book down when my mom wanted to run to the store and when I had to cook dinner.

Tess and Nate are both Alphas which is my favorite kind of lead because they are always strong and fierce which is how I love my main characters.  I don’t like to give anything away in my reviews about plot because I do not want to ruin your adventure.  I will say that Bethany does a fantastic job with her descriptions and plot that everything comes alive and you feel your heart speed up during fights or when fleeing.  Both Tess and Nate are easy to fall in love with as characters, and I hope to see more of them as the series continues.  I can’t wait for the next book to see what happens next!!

I highly recommend this book to my shifter lovin’ friends…you will not be disappointed :)

Review @JRhoadesAuthor - Wolver's Rescue by Jacqueline Rhoades (The Wolvers #6)

Wolver’s Rescue
The Wolvers #5
by Jacqueline Rhoades

Goodreads Blurb:  Sometimes it's not the wolves who pose the danger...

There’s a downside to living in a secret society. Someone has to ensure it remains that way. ‘Bull’ Bulworth is that someone. His current assignment: track a young man who has an unrecognized wolf inside him and eliminate the problem before the truth about Wolvers is exposed to the human world. It’s a simple and straightforward assignment until he meets a woman who makes him think crazy might be contagious.

In her own words, Tommie Bane is nuttier than a pecan tree. There’s a voice in her head telling her she is something other than human, and a creature she swears is running around inside her body. Just when she’s at the lowest point in her weird and nutty life, she meets a man who tells her it’s all real. Should she listen to the voice of reason or to the voice in her head that keeps shouting “Mate”?

What do you have to lose when you've already lost your mind? For Tommie, it could be her life.

About the Author:  Jacqueline, known as Jackie to her friends, lives in rural southern Ohio with one lovable husband, one spoiled dog and one disinterested cat. She believes coffee is a food group and therefore necessary to survival. She always has a pot brewing. When not writing, she can usually be found with her nose in someone else's book or working in her garden. She also spends a great deal of time chasing deer and rabbits who apparently also like gardening.  Jackie loves hearing from her readers and is always willing to chat.

The cover is perfect and definitely beckons me to it!!  :)  Love it!!

I have loved every book I have read by Jacqueline so far :)  I am always pulled into her stories and just can’t put them down.  I was up way too late last night trying to finish it last night, but finally had to call it or I wouldn’t have gotten 4 hours of sleep.  So as soon as I got out of the shower this morning, I finished the last couple of chapters.  Her descriptions and story lines always make for a wonderful story full of adventure to keep you completely ensconced in her Wolver world.

This one was an emotional rollercoaster.  On several occasions, I was crying, laughing, and cheering for butt kicking.  Tommie is amazingly strong, but she doesn’t even realize she is.  Bull is awesome, but I love that Tommie always gets the last word….hilarious :)

The only part that makes me sad is there isn’t anything more to read.  I don’t want to wait for more of this fabulous world that Jacqueline has created.  I know I have mentioned it on occasion, but I’m not so patient on the waiting game, but thankfully she never leaves us hanging at the end of the book and it’s always a happy ending!!

I highly recommend this series to all those shifter lovers out there :)  It is AWESOME!!!

Review @Mandy_Harbin - Surrounded by Death by Mandy Harbin (Woods Family #0.5)

Surrounded by Death
Woods Family #0.5
by Mandy Harbin

Goodreads blurb:  His family speaks of his death as a tragic example of why it’s too dangerous for the Woods men to be around available women.

Eric Woods is now dead, but was his last night as a living, breathing mountain lion shifter as horrible as his family has always believed?

Experience Eric’s last night with Simone--a woman whose need for carnal pleasures for exceeds all rational thought.

About the Author:  After reading Danielle Steel’s Summer’s End, Mandy became hooked on reading romance. Of course she was probably too young to be reading books like that at the time, which made it even that much better! She dabbled in writing throughout adolescence and justified studying it in college under that wonderful umbrella of liberal arts. Living in Arkansas, she figured writing was a dream and not a career, so when she went back to get her master’s degree, she studied business. It wasn’t until she was staying up late to write—after working full-time, spending time with the family, and studying mind-numbing business nonsense—when she realized something had to give. The love of writing prevailed. She still lives in Arkansas with a few classes shy of an MBA but now with more time to submerge herself in her craft.

The cover is very sexy with both beasts ;)  Love it!!!

I bought this a week ago because I had to know the story.  This is a short story only about 20 pages and a quick read.  If you have read book 1, I think you won’t want to miss out on the added information about Eric since he is mentioned a lot, but you aren’t given a whole lot of information.  While this happens before book 1, in my opinion you should read it after book 1.  I say this because I think sometimes short prequels can taint your real opinion of a series and that you should get a feel for the series first.  This is just my opinion.

I completely enjoyed getting more information about Eric though being about death it is sad for the Woods family.

I recommend this story to those who love this series already and want the added information :)

Review @Mandy_Harbin - Surrounded by Pleasure by Mandy Harbin (Woods Family #2)

Surrounded by Pleasure
Woods Family #2
by Mandy Harbin

Goodreads blurb:  Krista Owens is an attorney who works too much and plays too little. When her colleague, Mikaela, requests her assistance for a month on the Woods estate, hinting that her brothers-in-law are all hot with commitment phobias, Krista agrees to tell the guys she has a boyfriend, hoping to finally lose her virginity.

Toby Woods doesn’t want anything to do with Krista, but watching his brothers fight over her ignites his feral side. He wants her, and he’ll stop at nothing to have her.

He knows it’s temporary, but will he be able to let her go when it’s time?

The cover is another one I definitely like, but I have a thing for big cats especially the shifter kind ;)

This is another novella length about 90 or so pages, and it is the 2nd book in this series.  This is for adults only due to the sexual content, and it is very steamy :)  I got this book in a bundled shifter set I bought.

Reviews for me are always difficult because I think your mood and feelings always have an effect on what you think of a book when you read it.  This is also why I try to get my reviews done as soon as I finish a book or at least for me I start losing my thoughts.  I don’t always mention this, but my reviews are always on my enjoyment of the story and I try to add things that someone might find useful when deciding whether or not the book is for them.  So always go with your own gut on whether a book is one you will enjoy because you know you best :)

I was again pulled into this fabulous world that Mandy created and loved every minute of it.  This is unusual for me because I tend to want non-stop action when I read my books, but this is more sexual and dating drama associated with shifters.  Mandy just does an amazing job with details and her storyline that everything fits beautifully together making a fantabulous story that works all around.

This is Krista and Toby’s story, but the whole Woods family is part of the story which I love because I’d have missed Mikaela and Josh if they were not part of the story too!!  The shifter mysteries are unwrapping and things are starting to fit together nicely, but I about died when the book ended because she totally hooked me at the end for the next story.  So now I’m probably going to have to get the next two books like NOW so I can read them after I finish a couple other reviews.

I highly recommend this book to all who enjoyed book 1 especially to my shifter lovin’ friends because it is purrrfectly delightful :)

New Release Review @JacquelynFrank - Cursed by Fire by Jacquelyn Frank (Immortal Brothers #1)

Cursed by Fire
Immortal Brothers #1
by Jacquelyn Frank

Goodreads blurb:  From New York Times bestselling author Jacquelyn Frank comes the scorching hot first book in a thrilling new series featuring four warrior brothers who have the power—and the curse—of immortality.

For centuries, Dethan has been trapped in a fiery inferno for defying the gods and snatching the power of immortality. Condemned to have his battle-hardened body licked by flames only to regenerate and be consumed all over again, Dethan has lost all hope—until the Goddess of Conflict appears. She will release him from torment—if he’ll use his power and strength as a warrior to raise an army and defeat a fierce enemy faction of gods.

As the lovers ignite a searing passion, Dethan will risk all—even the wrath of the Goddess of Conflict—for a chance to make Selinda his forever.

About the Author:  From her website HERE:
Hey all,
Here we are, a new year, a new bio. Life truly is dynamic so I have to keep updating this thing constantly.

What hasn’t changed? I am a native New Yorker, was born there and have lived a major portion of my life there. I was born on Lawn Guyland (that’s how we say it, I swear) but have resided in several places. I love animals, specifically cats, to a point of insanity (I actually bought a ‘Crazy Cat Lady’ action figure from a fan with a humor shop!) I love my boys like I would honest to goodness children. I am still writing, the muse taking me all over creation. (I was recently accused of having series ADD) But not to fear, I feel things coming full circle and we will be in the Nightwalker world again! I’m still living in Western North Carolina, a happy Asheville resident. My foster daughter, Bianca, still visits with me at least twice a year and is very much a part of my life.

That brings me to what has changed. I recently lost two of my boys. Damien and Magellan. All of you who know me know my cats are like my children, and these losses were utterly devastating to me. They were both very young and their deaths coming so close to each other was particularly painful. Also, my Nicodemous (named after the wise old rat in Nimh…but far too sweet to the inspiration for Nico my vampire villain) was diagnosed with kidney failure and I have to anticipate another departure soon. But my family has grown as well adding two new boys, Pierre and Sake. My rescue efforts have continued, and I find myself working with Brother Wolf Animal RescueAnimal Compassion Network, and now T.A.A.G, another local group. We had a particularly huge kitten season in WNC this year and I was bursting at the seams with ferals the whole gang participated in socializing them making them suitable for finding new forever homes.

The whole gang consists of my new assistant, Natalie Justice and my housekeeper Donna. It’s a gorgeous triad of women that works so beautifully together, all of us knowing each others’ strengths and weaknesses and somehow all of us fitting so well that things get done and I get to write!
Other than this, I can only tell you that media is my life’s blood. Books, movies, music…I thrive on all of it. I can cross almost every genre, but I have my favorites so here goes: Female vocalists, like Evanescence’s Amy Lee, Lady Gaga, Rhianna, Katie Perry, Ke$ha and about a hundred other women artists who can get me moving and motivated with their voices are my preference at the moment. Books? Honestly, I find it hard to make time to read anymore, and when I do read it completely off genre and off my Kindle. I never thought I’d say it, but I don’t even like holding a book anymore!

As for movies, I admit it, I love disaster flicks. Something about the raw honesty in the end of the human race as we know it…or the charge of romance in impossible moments of desperation…but mostly I think it’s a tie between watching people bite the dust for being arrogant and doofy (my cynical side) and watching the human race persevere through the worst of situations because of their best qualities (and there’s the optimist aka romantic).
And I bet you thought I was going to say romance movies. AS IF! Pretty Woman? Bed of Roses? Titanic? (ooo…combo disaster and romance!) The Matrix? (Oh, it IS TOO a romance! Love saves Neo’s life!) It’s not as though I haven’t seen all of the above a hundred times over and STILL cry when I am supposed to! Do I seem that sappy to you? Do I?! Huh?!

This from the gal who bawls when she watches her Buffy because she and Angel are the next best tragic pair of lovers since Romeo and Juliet.

Okay, other than that…I am a former ASL interpreter, I have a degree and everything. Had to quit due to health issues conflicting with the work. If anyone tells you interpreting for the deaf is easy, tell them to hold their arms in the air and wave them around for an hour and a half straight without stopping. I’ve also done a few other things like substitute teaching, health aide, things like that, but I have wanted to be an author since I was barely into puberty. It was those sexy teen romances where the first kiss was as far as they went. Heh. I thought that was the be all and end all…then I got my hands on an introductory copy for a new series launching (ok, showing my age for those who are in the know) called Loveswept and got my first taste of sizzle. I’ve been writing it and gobbling it up ever since! (You can assume I mean through reading if you like). I just found out Loveswept is coming back and I’m thrilled! I SO want to write for them. Even if just for fun!

Pet projects? Animals (yes, cats especially), we have too many of them. Spaying and neutering is crucial to population control, and population control means hundreds less feral creatures starving in streets and in barns everywhere. There are so many programs that will help with the cost of this, even trap and release programs of fixing ferals, if you seek it out. And if you can possibly pay it forward, the ACN, Friends 2 Ferals, BWAR and hundreds of other animal rescue outfits depend on our generosity. Please, make certain it is a legitimate association and that your gifts are going to the right place. Also, animal cruelty is one of the most horrifying epidemics in this nation. People think that because they are just animals that it’s okay to dump them by the roadside when kittens grow up and are no longer so adorable and sweet. Or that they can kick them around or ignore their responsibility to their health and safety needs. North Carolina has yet to outlaw the use of the gas chamber when euthanizing animals. This is something that should be protested by writing to the representatives of the state, whether you are a resident or not. I could go on forever about this. And maybe you’re thinking there is so much HUMAN angst to worry about, why waste time on animals? I guess because we’re all connected to the same earth, the same creative karma and, perhaps, the same pool of souls. If we fail one, we hurt all of us. If we save one, we heal us all. Even the tiniest, purring creature can teach us more about ourselves and our ability to love than we might ever imagine. Who wouldn’t want to save that?

My Thoughts - 3.5 out of 5 Unicorns - I more than liked it!!!

***Received a copy of the ebook for an honest review via Netgalley

The cover is okay and steamy, but nothing that grabs my attention.  I think I like the cover on the UK site better with the flames, but that’s just me :)

Okay when I first started this book, I was lost and afraid this book was going to be one I didn’t much like.  I was wrong, and this happens to me sometimes with new worlds and authors I’m not used to…heck sometimes with authors I love.  I think I just love when there is a tons of stuff happening or going on, and you can’t always have that when you are building a new world or there will be disconnects.

Jacquelyn creates a unique world that I have not read before, and I liked it :)  I picked this book because my mom and grandma love her work, and I knew it was a new series so I wouldn’t start behind the 8 ball so to speak :)  She adds in flairs with her speaking in the dialects of the world she is creating though it does take a bit to get used to it.  I was hooked about 30 percent into the book.  I think a lot of people will stop reading a book because it doesn’t grab them from the start, and I think this is a mistake especially in a brand new series :)  I think the last 20 percent was the best, and I didn’t want to put it down.

If you want a perfect world where there isn’t any issues, probably not the story for you.  The heroine and city is like an animal that has been abused for a long time while some would give up, love, kindness, and direction sees them getting stronger and stronger.  She had to be cultivated throughout the story into the woman she becomes, and her I liked a lot :)  Dethan is rough warrior with a long past, but he is definitely not cruel and made this story what it was.  I totally enjoyed the journey, and I think this story will get better especially if the characters that have been built in this story are still part of the next book :)

I recommend this story to readers who like mythological type stories with a historical feel.  This was an unusual read for me, but I definitely want to read the next book to see if the world grows and the connection with the world and its characters grow as well.

Review @authorabby - Taken by the Pack by Abby Weeks (Wolfpack Trilogy #2)

Taken by the Pack
Wolfpack Trilogy #2
by Abby Weeks

Goodreads blurb:  This is the second book in the stunning Wolfpack Trilogy.

If you have been following from Book One, you already know what to expect!

This is no ordinary story. In the first book, Aisha was treated horribly by Heath and Hunter. In this volume, she finally finds the courage to stand up to them. She also learns that with the help of the four shifter brothers, she is strong enough to stand up to anyone.

Leaving the normal world behind, Aisha goes high into the mountains to live with the shifter brothers. It is there that she finally learns what a real home feels like. She learns what real love feels like.

She also realizes just how challenging it will be for her to keep all four brothers happy at the same time, especially when two of them are alpha males.

Follow Aisha as her journey brings her deep into the lore, eroticism and fantasy of life among the shifters of Alaska.

You will not regret it!

About the Author:  Hi, my name is Abby. I hope you enjoy my exciting new romance and erotica stories.

I love stories about strong, female protagonists that give you a good character arc and background to the action as well as providing the steamy details of what they get up to. I am particularly attracted to themes like wife-swapping, voyeurism, exhibitionism, and public and group encounters.

I am thirty-years-old and live in the beautiful forests of rural Ontario, Canada, with my two dogs.

I hope you enjoy my stories. You are always welcome to contact me at: abby@type-writer.net

***Received a copy of the ebook for an honest review

The cover is very similar to book one, so of course it is still very sexy :)

Just like book 1, this is an adult only book, and there is very similar dark sexual scenes involving rape and multiple men.  One scene is very bad and portrays men in the wilderness as…I guess the best wording is that they are savages.  Even though you could probably read these out of order, I do not recommend it.  I think you will be missing something important to Aisha’s journey by starting at book 2 and not reading book 1 first.

Aisha learns a lot of things about herself in this book.  She is very powerless in the beginning, but she has been an emotional transformation as well as physical ones that are helping her become strong.  You learn a lot more about the shifters in this book which I love.  The brothers are amusing at times, and so far I like where things are headed.  I was screaming silently at the end because I needed to know more.  I’m not very good and being patient waiting for the next book…lol  but I just don’t have a choice :)

Abby does a fantastic job with her descriptions that you feel the anguish while reading what is happening to Aisha.  I’m hoping the boys get it together because Aisha needs some happiness and healing!!

I recommend this book to everyone who enjoyed book 1.  This one has some parts that are worse than book 1 regarding the dark content, but it also has a lot more that makes it more balanced with good things :)

Audiobook Review @rayadverb @RidleyPearson - Peter and the Secret of Rundoon by Dave Barry & Ridley Pearson

Peter and the Secret of Rundoon
Peter and the Starcatchers #3
by Dave Barry & Ridley Pearson

Goodreads blurb:  In this action-packed finale to the Starcatchers series, Peter and Molly find themselves in the dangerous land of Rundoon, ruled by an evil king who enjoys watching his snake consume those who displease him. But that’s just the beginning of trouble for our heroes. Peter and Molly once again find themselves pitted against the evil shadow-creature, Lord Ombra, in a struggle to save themselves, not to mention the planet. It’s a wild desert adventure, with rockets, carpets and camels all flying through the air, zooming towards an unforgettable climax...

About the Authors:

Dave has also written a total of 30 books, although virtually none of them contain useful information. Two of his books were used as the basis for the CBS TV sitcom "Dave's World," in which Harry Anderson played a much taller version of Dave.
Dave plays lead guitar in a literary rock band called the Rock Bottom Remainders, whose other members include

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!!

***Borrowed the audiobook CD’s from the library

The cover is definitely a magical adventure that grabs your attention and says read me :)

I really do love that Jim Dale has continued as the narrator :)  I love when there is consistency, and my son feels the same way.  We listened to this book to and from school.  It makes our ride enjoyable, and I get to share my book addiction with him.

This adventure was just as epic as all the other Peter and the Starcatchers books.  This book links in even more of the Peter Pan nuances and story traits that you know and love.  Peter is an amazing boy with so much courage especially when it comes to saving his friends.  I love that my son gets to hear these lessons as we listen to the books in this series.  Peter and his friends are all present in this story, and then we meet some new friends that I was excited when I heard the names.  There is so much action and stuff happening in this book.  It kept both my son and my attention throughout the whole thing.  I can’t wait to start the next book with my son :)

I highly recommend this series to Peter Pan and Tinker Bell fans who want a new take on old stories especially if you are an adventure loving boy or someone who loves one :)  The audio version is a fantastic way to share the story together :)
